Fun Halloween Reading!

Your child will be coming home today with this fun book!

Please encourage your child to read to you tonight- reminding them to point to each word as they read and to look at the picture if they get stuck.

Thank you for your continued support at home-it does make a difference in your child's education!

Environmental Print Project!

Dear 4K Families,

We would like to make an environmental print book for the classroom. Please look out for pictures, advertisements in papers, labels, signs, and logos that are easily recognizable and bring them in by Monday November 2nd. Some examples would be photos taken, logos of restaurants/stores in your area (Subway), labels of food items from a grocery store (Goldfish, Go-gurt), signs found outside (stop-sign). These items will be helpful and used to bridge the gap between functional print and our beginning stages of reading.

Thank you for helping with this project!

A HUGE thank you to all my parent volunteers for all of your help and support! It was very much appreciated! I hope you enjoyed spending the morning with our class!

Fun Friday!!!

Today was an exciting day!!!

Here we are in our "F" crowns!

Reading "Five Little Pumpkins" with our silly "reading fingers" was a lot of fun! We pointed to the title, and the words on the page as we read! Great job reading today friends!

We talked again about the "Pumpkin Parable" and scoped out all the gunck and seeds that were inside of our pumpkins. We then counted the seeds in each pumpkin, and compared them  to see which pumpkin had the most seeds inside! That was a lot of seed counting! Whew!

Here is the finished pumpkins! We had fun deciding what shapes to choose for the faces. They are sitting outside the school office for everyone to see!

Fun in 4K Today!

We had a fun day in 4K learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin, and doing some crayon melting art! Come stop by our classroom to see our finished products!

We also had fun retelling the story of "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything"! :) Our friend Audrina was the "teacher" :) She did a great job modeling how to hold a book, pointing to words as she "read," and talking to the other children about how this book was fiction! Great job!

Homework due tomorrow 10/15

Today we had a lot of fun reading the book "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything." We discussed the book, talked about the sequence of events, the characters, and the setting of the story.
You should find the attached worksheet in your child's folder to complete and bring back to school tomorrow!

You will also find a ziplock bag of story props from our story today. Please encourage your child to recall the story with you. :)

Family Project Due OCT. 21st!

Happy Fall! It is that time of year for candy, apples, festivals, and PUMPKINS! I always love the exciting fall activities we get to incorporate here at school. You will find a pumpkin template in your child's folder!
In our classroom, we will be celebrating fall…pumpkin style; however, our pumpkins won’t just be any ol’ pumpkin. This year the students will be creating pumpkins to look just like famous characters from storybooks. The best part…this project involves you!
The students will be choosing their favorite fiction story and reading it at home for homework. As the students finish reading their books, they may begin to create their pumpkins at home. Students are welcome to complete this on their own or have fun
completing it as a family project.
I can’t wait to see all of the students’ pumpkin creations on display!

Project Due Date is: October 21st!

There are no specific guidelines regarding the materials you use. Below is a list of supplies that others have used. You may find it useful for generating ideas. paint wiggly eyes Felt yarn feathers glue/hot glue construction paper pipe cleaners fabric buttons fur glitter markers pom poms cotton balls stickers props: glasses, jewelry, crowns, etc

Please plan to bring a copy of the book to display with your completed project. If your book was borrowed from the library, you could print a scanned or photocopied image of the book instead.

Should be fun!

Bat Roost

This week in 4K we have been learning a lot about Bats!

Today, we played a fun game to help us better understand "echolocation" and how it helps bats see at night! Ask your child if they can recall some of the words in the song!:)

Also, our bat roost and bats are hanging up, come stop by and see!

Here we are sporting our "E" crowns!

Learning Center Collaboration

This week we wrapped up the month and reviewed previously learned material. We worked hard at mastering those "learning targets" for September.
